Helping Arkspark Bring a New Kitset Home Vision to Market
I first met Steph Phillips in Lauder in 2024 at an NZSIP event. Over the course of three days, the walls and roof of a three-bedroom home went up, showing just how powerful smart panel construction can be when great design and efficient systems come together. That weekend left a real impression on Steph.

Since then, she has been busy, including running for local council and continuing to develop her work as an architect. Now, our role is to help support her architectural skills with a clear strategy, forecast and pathway to take a new range of kitset homes to market.
-----------------------------------------------
Steph’s work through Arkspark is grounded in thoughtful design. Her approach to interiors is not just about selecting beautiful finishes. It starts with listening closely to how people live, what they value and how a space needs to support their lifestyle. A successful interior, in Steph’s view, is about making thousands of individual decisions feel connected.
-----------------------------------------------
It considers where the kitchen should sit, how living spaces capture sunlight, how the home connects to the outdoors and how practical challenges can be solved through good design.
-----------------------------------------------
Alongside bespoke architecture projects, Arkspark is now developing modular and kitset solutions that draw on the best lessons from high-end homes. These backyard or outback loft apartment designs are being created with performance, flexibility and value in mind.

Using NZSIP panels, these projects can be fast to construct, helping reduce site costs while still allowing personal expression through materials, finishes and colour palettes.
The designs are small without being tiny, flexible without feeling temporary, and well suited to modern living trends such as intergenerational housing, home-and-income opportunities, guest accommodation and future single-level living.
-----------------------------------------------
Sustainability is also central to the thinking. For Arkspark, that means considering comfort, airtightness, passive systems, running costs, materials, climate and landscape.
Our role is helping define the path forward for this exciting project. That includes building a forecast, creating a strategy, setting clear targets and providing regular check-ins and moral support as Steph embraces the next stage of Arkspark.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Key takeaway: Bringing a new architectural product to market requires more than good design. It needs strategy, numbers, positioning and a clear pathway from concept to customer.
