The Methven Update

The Methven Update

Some of you will know, we made the move from Cromwell to Methven on February 1st… and what a whirlwind it’s been since then.

The biggest unknown for me was always the kids. Starting at a new school, making new friends, settling into a new community, it’s a big shift. But they’ve taken to it so well. Seeing them come home talking about their little buddies and genuinely enjoying school has been such a relief, and probably the highlight of the whole move so far.

The move itself was full on. Jarrod and I were up and down the country, closing the Cromwell office, moving the Dunedin team, and making sure we had everything set up here in Canterbury. It was busy, but overall, the transition has been really positive.

We haven’t sold our Cromwell house just yet (fingers crossed!), which has led us to start thinking a bit differently about what comes next. We’ve been chatting with Bespoke Architecture about plans for a new build, but with everything going on in the world right now, we’re leaning towards something a bit more simple.

Jarrod built our Cromwell home, so I know whatever we do next will still feel beautiful, but there’s something really appealing about keeping things practical and manageable. It’s funny, I was talking to my grandparents about our “smaller” plan, and they had a good laugh at what we consider small these days.

That said, building our dream home in Cromwell taught me so much about what I value, and I’m really looking forward to bringing those learnings into whatever we create next.

On the business side, things have transitioned well into a more remote model, but like any period of change, it’s come with its challenges. I had some big Q1 plans that have been pushed out, which is just the reality of running a business.

What I’m really grateful for is that we went into this year with a clear, solid strategy. That’s made it so much easier to stay responsive to the changes that popped up last month without losing direction.

And with everything happening in the world right now, I can see just how important it is for businesses to have the right support.

Whether that’s:

  • Free tools and insights
  • Our reporting-only Data Lab membership
  • Or more hands-on support like our fully managed Meta Ads packages

We’re here to help businesses navigate what can feel like a really uncertain environment.

One of the things I feel incredibly grateful for is the type of clients we work with. Small and growing businesses are agile, they can adapt quickly, and with the right focus on data and strategy, they can continue to grow even when things feel a bit unpredictable.

Right now, I feel a real responsibility to show up and support as many people as I can.

We’re incredibly lucky to be in New Zealand, and while there are definitely some market ups and downs, they are manageable with the right approach.
