Step by step instructions on changing over to GA4
Are you a proud owner of a Shopify store looking to harness the power of Google Analytics to gain valuable insights and grow your online business? Implementing Google Analytics for your Shopify store can provide you with invaluable data about your customers, their behaviour, and your website's performance. As you know Google Analytics are changing soon, so to make sure you can keep viewing and using your data here are some steps to upgrade to the new GA4 account.
How To:
Log in to your Google Analytics account and navigate to the "Admin" section in the bottom left hand of your Google Analytics screen.
Login: analytics.google.com
In the "Property" column, select the website for which you want to upgrade to G4A. Follow the prompts to set up a new GA4 property.
There is a chance you have clicked a link inside an email which will set up your GA4 account – it wont however change your data stream.
Click get started on this screen if you can see a connected GA4 account but no data stream.
Now you are all at the same stage…
Once your new GA4 property is set up, copy the Measurement ID.
Log in to your Shopify account and navigate to the "Online Store" section.
Click on "Preferences" and scroll down to the "Google Analytics" section.
Follow the prompts to complete G4A set up – Google Account connection required.
Once that has been done you will be able to select a google analytics profile to connect to – select the GA4 one for the business.
Save your changes.
